For my purposes, it is spelled with a y, as in "He's a Floppy Lipped Boy Oy! Oy! Oy! Oy!" Twee's latest song. Actually like Sid Vicious, or possibly just Gary Oldman's rendering of him. Sid and Nancy is one of my favorite movies. Especially like the scene where he's running down the street after her in his underwear. Sheer poetry in motion. And you know I mean then with all truthful intent. :)
A musical question

Is oy (oi) spelled with a y or an i?

Sat.5/10 was my first McKrell's experience - LOVE the energy you all bring to the stage! I didn't catch the name of the first song you did that evening - the music had such a purity it brought chills to me! Will be back!

Kevin:
Top 'o the morning to ye! I saw the article in the Advertiser about Sister Monica's upcoming visit and practically flipped. (Will we ever make the transition to calling her Carmel?) Anyway, count me in -- I'll go to the Parting Glass website and make a reservation and contact Sharon Jones as well. Will try to get Terrence to make the trip and Frank Curran as well.
The kicker is: May 9 is my 50th birthday. Have a party planned for May 10 at the Pinksterfest, but didn't really have any plans for Friday evening, the 9th. I'm REALLY charged up about this!. Hope your brother Chris -- and as many siblings as possible -- are around.
See ya then. My very best . . .

Hey Kevin, we think we deserve a set of tickets to celebtation of Celts because of the following list:
1)I make the best bodrhan beaters around.
2)I take some of your finest photos and video.
3)we got you a parachute.
4)we have delivered a boulder to your doorstep as well as some marble and quartz crystals.
5)Barb made a great looking Kevin Mckrell doll for you.
6)We have supported your music since Donnybrook Fair days.
So, we think you should just say "ear" you go,take the tickets.
See ya soon. Barb and Dave (Wizbang).

Hi Kevin,
Tickets to Celebration of the Celts, le do thoil.
I was disappointed when you couldn't make it to Buffalo so I'd like to see your band. Now a big reason - I've recently retired and I'm celebrating in every way I can - everyday is a Saturday now. So you know the deal, I used to have money but no time and now I have lots of time but less money. It's worth it though after way too many years of working. My first summer off in 50 years - yeah!

Save me a seat for the Irish bus festival. I have often thought that buses have been too long ignored in the festival circuit and am glad that you are stepping to the forefront to show your support and be the first to do so. You are as always a great role model for those of us still waiting for or still on Morrison's Blue or The Who's Magic or Ken Kesey's "Furthur" Bus. Sincerely, Mary Prank Stirr

Katie is one of the most talented people I have ever known, and I have known plenty- she is amazing. (You too Kevin) But back to Kate. I just wanted to say, she is a fun, great, amazing person...she should try to hold on to friend if she ever feels the same.

To DMKH: I find ancestral history fascninating. The roads we humans take lead us every which way and them some - like a wonderfully vibrant intricate tapestry. Humans have always been on the move. When asked about his Neapolitan birthplace, my paternal grandfather would always add, "but we were from the north." I always thought he was differentiating between the mainland and Scicily, but I recently found out that he meant they came with the Norman invasion in something like the 11th century. Good luck tracking your history. Traveling with Kevin may bring you some of your answers. He took me home to Italy and the experience was astounding. :)

Hello Kevin:
Our daughter, Kendra is graduating from the high School for Performing & Visual Arts here in Houston, Texas.
She is a soprano, a muiscal theater & theater student.
In our guest to locate Celtic music for her ( her favorite to sing) we found you.
I am a McKrell too.
My relative Eliza McKrell was born in Maysville, Kentucky. Her mother 's last name was Burguess and her father was a McKrell. Eliza McKrell married JH Fillmore and our son has Fillmore as his middle name and I have McKrell has my middle name.
Do let us know if you are connected to this McKrell line at all. We do not know where the mcKrell's came from before they reached KY.
Are the McKrells considered Scot-Irish or Scot?
When we were in Scotalnd, we were told that the McKrell clan was absorbed by a larger clan and no longer had tartan colors. Is this true?
Would greatly appreciate opening up communications with you to find out more about the Mc Krells and look forward to meeting with you in the near future.
Our daughter, Kendra has longed to go to Ireland and learn the Irish language, songs and dances.
In fact, we saw an Irish play that dates back to 1833 the other evening and we sat next to an Irish Professor from Galway that now teached at the University of St. Thomas, Center for Irish Studies.
Looking forward to your prompt reply.
I remain

Just got back from the Irish House Party Show at the Spa Little Theatre. It was great hearing you again. Although I must admit, I felt out of place listening to your music without a pint of Guiness in front of me. Thanks for making great music and sharing it with me for 20 years!

I am so selfishly glad you are callin' yourselves the McKrells again. I love the music and of course... you can call yourselves brass balls if it suits you. (And you should do whatEVER you like) However, it does make life easier for the rest of us trompping around, chasing after you if the name is something that sticks to your gut like Irish oatmeal.

Hey--thank you for performing in Bradford, VT last night! I felt completely comfortable in your company and loved your songs. I can imagine traveling with you would be equally lovely and hope to have the good fortune to see that happen in the next few years. You've awakened the Irish-woman-within and I thank you.
See you on the flip side when you return with the missing band members!

Kevin,
I couldn't agree more with your latest email comments:
The band is way cool and very talented with a great new sound. The Xmas shows and 1st Night were a gas. Vic will be missed but he is surely a phenomenon. Who knows where he will go in the future with so much talent and so young. 7 Nations is awesome, glad you guys shared the stage with them. Katie is really jelling with the band. She looks like she is having a ball on stage, and you guys are all havin' fun . And when you're havin' fun up there, we're havin' fun watchin' .
AWESOME!!!!!!
Happy New Year

It was great to get my five minutes of fame with you Kevine recently at a rowdy Dublin Inn. From the last "First Night" in Saratoga where you could hear a pin drop as I was introduced to you and your great vocal, music and yes humor.I have been convinced that,as an Irishmen , never having seen Ireland, the ONLY way to go is with you and that was thrown upon me by all the great people that told me about your trips! again, I thank you and while that show last week at the Dublin, you could NOT hear a pin drop, YOU do know there were people there ONLY to see YOU,, thanks again,,md , Torrington Conn USA
